Women’s Caucus for Art of Greater Washington

WCA/DC is a community of women in the arts in the Washington, DC area including Maryland, Virginia, DC, and nearby states. Locally we support women in the visual arts professions. We are artists, curators, art historians, art students, and art collectors working together to support women in the visual arts. Membership offers the opportunity to build a supportive system of women artists, share camaraderie and ideas, and have fun. Members can participate in national and local chapter exhibitions, meet other women in the arts, learn leadership skills, and gain experience in the visual arts. We collaborate with other organizations to accomplish our mission. At WCA’s annual national conference members can attend workshops, panels, and the Lifetime Achievement Awards ceremony and network with women artists from all over the country.

Mission

The mission of WCA/DC is to support, nurture, and challenge women of all cultures and ethnicities and of all backgrounds and abilities in their roles in the visual arts. We accomplish this by taking the initiative through both traditional and innovative means, including forums, exhibits, and social activism. It is also our mission to educate ourselves about diversity and the history of women in the arts and to further the goals of our national organization.
