My landscape paintings are inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains, where I have lived since 1978. The traditions of both Eastern and Western painting have been important in the development of my work but in essence my work is about color and harmonious color relationships. I like the ancient medium of encaustic (heated pigmented beeswax because of the spontaneous influence heated wax exerts on the process of painting and feel that the fluidity of watercolor expresses the atmospheric element of my vision.
